FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What will the proceeds of the event be used for?

All proceeds from the event will be used to maintain and strengthen the activities of the MILO sports club for children and young people. The costs of the activities include renting premises, purchasing equipment, instructors' salaries and insurance premiums.

What kind of bike is suitable for the event?

The competition is open to both hybrid and mountain bikes. Depending on the route, both can be an advantage. Both series also have some more technical off-road sections, so front suspension allows for a more comfortable cycling experience. It is possible to hire a few mountain bikes for the event through the organisers.

Do you need a map holder at the event?

A map holder is almost an indispensable tool on cycle routes. If the map is not easily visible, the route can quickly get lost. In addition, reading a map at speed is a challenge, and without one you have to stop to check the map. If you don't have your own map holder, we recommend borrowing one from a friend, making one yourself or renting one from an organiser who offers a few map holders for hire.

Is there an age limit for the event?

In both series, children aged 14 and over can enter as a team and all ages can enter as an adult pair. Children under 18 years of age must have the consent of a parent or guardian to participate. The consent of the parent or guardian will be indicated in the entry form.

Are there any water points along the route?

Yes. There is at least one water point on the route of both series. The location of the water point will be indicated in the route book sent to competitors about a week before the event.

Can I use my own paddling equipment at the event?

No. Paddling is carried out only with the equipment provided by the organisers.

Is it possible to participate in the event by electric bike?

Yes. You can enter the competition on an electric bike. Teams participating on electric bikes will have their own entry in the results. The organisers will be informed in advance of any participation by electric bike in the entry form.

Are the maps waterproof?

No. The maps for the competition are not waterproof, but the organisers will provide the competitors with a plastic map. The maps available along the route will also have map moulds ready for use.

Is the event suitable for first-timers?

Yes. In particular, the Fun series offers a low-threshold option for first-timers. The information leaflets provide sufficient guidance on how to prepare, and the event's website and social media offer more tips. To take part in the race, you will need your own bicycle and helmet. Some bikes can also be hired from the organisers. Other equipment for the event will be provided by the event organisers. You will need some sporting background to take part in the competition, but you do not need to be a super-mover. The route can be completed at your own pace, enjoying the scenery. You should be familiar with the most common map features, but you don't need to be a master orienteer, as the routes in both series are mainly based on clear courses.

Are competitors insured by the organiser?

No. Competitors are not insured on behalf of the organiser.
